Christmas Aftermath

Standard

I have to say, Christmas 2010 was a huge success. Besides getting incredibly spoiled by friends & family with gifts, I got to spend lots of much needed quality time with the people who meant the most!

I do have to give my mom a special shout out for outdoing herself this year. I love her to death and on top of buying me WAY too much, she hosted a 20 person family gathering on Christmas Eve and cooked enough for a small country. Serious.

On the eve of Christmas Eve my mom & I went shopping and she ended up buying me a gorgeous new winter coat from BENCH as well as an awesome new hat! Then on Christmas day I got a gorgeous new grey/black/white scarf from SIMONS to complete my winter look. I’m ready for any temperature Montreal’s winter sends our way πŸ™‚

(My cupcake PJ pants are courtesy of my sister-in-law’s mom. Aren’t they so cute?!)

My mom also gave me this super cute brown purse (WITH LOTS OF POCKETS, yay!) from Aldo. Best part? I was with her when she bought it & didn’t even know. I did, however, have my suspicions when I saw her befriending the saleswoman…

On Christmas Eve when all my family came over, we had a gift exchange around midnight (which is a tradition for the french from Quebec). My cousin (who I adore, but only see once or twice a year) got me this super cute themed gift of things from around the world. The New York frame already has a picture from when I was there a couple years ago, but now I have yet another reason to visit Paris!

And on top of all of this, the rest of my family gave me gift cards and a few other little things here and there. Like I said? Totally spoiled. But in turn, my credit card bill is feeling the aftermath of Christmas too. It’s time to pay off some bills and start saving money again.

Now that Christmas is over it’s time to count down the days until New Year’s! The 31st is going to be spent with Jenia and all six Star Wars movies. Then at night we’ll be heading over to my brother’s to ring in the New Year! And on the first, more family over at my house. My mom is really going all out this year! Besides that, I’ve been making time to see friends and stay up extra late for no reason at all (AKA no homework!) Only one week left until classes start again, so I’m definitely going to try and make the best of it. A few more days of work, a couple more days to sleep in late and two or three more dinners with friends until 2011 and a new semester.

Oh, and what else did I get for Christmas? My grades! I passed… YAY! I was convinced that I failed my math class (my first one in 5 years. But I didn’t, and now it’s time to take the next one. I can actually do it!!)

Did Santa spoil you too? Hope you all had fantastic holidays πŸ™‚

  1. You know, I actually didn’t have that great of a Christmas, and I can’t really talk about it on my blog or any public forum that I think friends or family would see…and I didn’t realize how dependent I’ve become on writing to work through my thoughts. I’m mostly just being childish and its a long story but suffice to say I didn’t get to spend Christmas with who I wanted (mostly because of snow), I didn’t get anything (my “big” gift is backordered and coming in a month but that’s depressing when you don’t actually get to open anything), and it just felt like another day. I’m just being whiney and should be thankful that I have all that I need and more.

Christmas just isn’t the same when you grow up.

    • You’re so right, Christmas completely changes as you get older. It often does feel like another day & sometimes just a stressful ‘other day’. I was really lucky this year to be surrounded with the right people and the fact that they spoiled me, but I’ve often been in your shoes, too! It sucks that the holiday has become so gift-giving but it really is part of the traditions and it’s nice to know that people thought of you and got you something nice. I’m sorry yours wasn’t that great this year, but there’s always the next! I guess it can’t be the best every single time, right?!
